“Yes! You too can be rich and do not believe anyone that says money is the root of all evil.”
Background
In the early Middle Ages some church leaders bastardized much of the bible in an attempt to keep control of the populations. In so doing they turned the religion from one of joy and communing with God to one of fire and brimstone, fear of joy, fear of wealth, and made people believe the way to God was through the church officials and prescribed religious rights.
Most have done this through ignorance and negligence of the scriptures. However, in this day and age and with our ability to read scripture untainted by error and our knowledge of how the universe works for us, thinking that it is just and good to be poor or to suffer is totally unacceptable.
Just imagine for a moment how you would feel if you gave someone a gift and they neglect it or just let it gather dust without even opening it? Would you give that kind of a person any gift again? I bet you wouldn’t do that. What a slap in the face of the creator to refuse any enjoyment of the gift you were given?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contrary to popular belief, the Bible does not say money is the root of all evil at all. The verse that is frequently alluded to is I Timothy 6:10, which is translated in the King James Version as,
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (I Timothy 6:10)
Note the subtle difference, the LOVE of money, not money itself...in other words Greed is the root of all evil. The paradox is that you can be poor and greedy; in fact some of the greediest people I know are poor--and they make their own lives miserable because all they think about is money and hate those that have it. They mistakenly believe money will solve their problems, so it is the centre of their focus. And this is exactly what the bible terms as the root of all evil.
Whether you're rich or poor, when money is the centre of all things, then you have truly discovered a root of much evil. I don't see this as an excuse for poverty or failure, but rather a universal truth that applies to rich and poor alike.
At various times the church has twisted the words of the Bible to suit various unseemly ends. However, when you dig into the Bible for yourself, it is easy to see that the focus is on the heart. It's all about living a balanced life wherein your relationship with God is your first priority and loving other human beings above money. Before we can go any further let’s see what the bible says about money.
What’s God’s view concerning money?
I think it's time for people to get past this silly idea that God has the same perception of wealth and poverty as the majority of people do.
Job 22:21 "Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace, thereby good shall come unto thee"- we must have a relationship with Him then riches will come. You might know someone who claims they have a relationship with him and is still broke. In fact they are many Christians in that category. The truth is that they are many rich Christians and many poor ones just like are rich and poor in all society. So what makes the difference? Why are some Christians or individuals rich and others poor?
To answer these questions you would’ve to focus on your life first. Do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ? If you do that’s great, and if not don’t let this opportunity pass you by. A relationship with God is far rewarding than just to live as if there is no God. To learn more about that visit http://www.elshaddai.org.uk/ , I promise it won’t hurt you.
Ok! Now, what are the benefits of being in relationship with Jesus Christ? Just to mention a few let’s see what the bible says :( Psalms 103:1-5)
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from destruction,
who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies,
who satisfies your month with good things,
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
There you’re, now you know you have benefits if you did not know that before. So are you enjoying those benefits? If not, why not? Let me help you quickly before you confuse yourself. You see, every man that God prospered understood that God wanted to prosper them first and then they did something that most people never do. It’s so simple you will laugh at yourself when you find out what separate the rich from the poor.
Stay blessed until next time
